Samya: 7-Day Yoga, Culture & Nature Retreat
A seven-day journey through Kerala's mountains and coast : yoga, culture, and deep reconnection.
About this program
Most retreats ask you to sit still and go inward. Samya asks you to move through the world and find yourself along the way.
This is a 7-day yoga and cultural immersion retreat set across two of Kerala's most distinct landscapes: four days in the misty tea-garden hills of Munnar, and three days on the slow-living coastal shores of Fort Kochi. Each location is chosen with intention. Munnar is where you go deep into daily yoga, pranayama, meditation, and physical practice, including a traditional Kalaripayattu experience. Fort Kochi is where you integrate through heritage walks, Kathakali, and the particular stillness that comes from being near the sea.
Led by Achu and Nithin, two Kerala-born, decade-experienced yoga and wellness guides who bring authentic local knowledge to every session. Samya retreats are kept intentionally small: a maximum of 10 participants per group. This is not a resort yoga class. It is a genuinely immersive experience where the guides know your name, your practice, and your pace.
Each day includes morning yoga, pranayama, meditation, and an evening session. Ayurvedic massage and treatment, specialized workshops, group excursions, a river swim, an Ayurvedic farm visit, and cultural performances are woven into the arc of the week.
Samya means balance in Sanskrit. By Day 7, participants consistently report feeling it, not as an idea, but as a physical, lived experience.
Maximum 10 participants. Suitable for all levels. Hosted across Munnar and Fort Kochi, Kerala.

Samya Yoga Retreats
Munnar & Fort Kochi, Kerala
Samya retreats move across two of Kerala's most therapeutically distinct landscapes. Munnar nestled in the Western Ghats at 1,600m offers cool mountain air, tea garden trails, misty mornings, and a quietness that penetrates quickly. Fort Kochi brings a slower coastal rhythm: colonial-era streets, Chinese fishing nets at sunset, and the Arabian Sea. Together they form a complete arc depth in the mountains, integration by the water.

Aksharanand
Lead Yoga & Wellness Guide
Qualifications:
Certified Yoga Instructor; Ministry of AYUSH aligned; decade of retreat facilitation experience
Born and raised in Kerala, Achu brings a rare combination of formal yoga training and deep cultural fluency to every retreat he leads. With a decade of experience designing and facilitating transformative retreats across Munnar and Fort Kochi, he has guided hundreds of participants from first-time practitioners to seasoned yogis through the specific kind of practice that this landscape makes possible.
His teaching style is warm, precise, and grounded in both classical yoga philosophy and the practical realities of modern lives under pressure. At Samya, he is not just a yoga instructor; he is a local guide, a philosophical conversation partner, and the reason participants come back.
Nithin Xavier
Cultural Immersion & Retreat Design Lead
Qualifications:
Certified Yoga & Wellness Facilitator; decade of retreat leadership; specialist in Kerala cultural heritage integration
Nithin was born into Kerala's living wellness traditions โ and has spent a decade translating that inheritance into retreat experiences that are culturally authentic, not curated for show. His role at Samya sits at the intersection of yoga facilitation, local knowledge, and cultural storytelling: he is the reason the Kalaripayattu visit feels like an encounter with something alive, the reason the Kathakali evening lands as more than entertainment.
Alongside Achu, Nithin co-designs every Samya itinerary with a single question in mind: what does this particular group, in this particular landscape, most need to experience to genuinely shift? The answer is different every time.
I've done yoga classes for years but I'd never done anything like this. The Kalaripayattu experience on Day 3 genuinely moved me โ watching something that ancient and alive, I understood for the first time what yoga was before it became a class. Achu and Nithin don't run a retreat; they share their home with you. That's the difference.
The shift from Munnar to Fort Kochi halfway through the week is genius. By Day 4 I was deeply rested from the mountains. Fort Kochi opened me back up โ the tuk-tuk tour, the Kathakali, the sunset at the beach. I returned home having genuinely changed how I move through my days. That's not something I expected from seven days.
Most yoga retreats stay in one place. Samya moves and the movement is the point.
The dual-location format four days in Munnar's mountains followed by three days at Fort Kochi's coast mirrors the internal arc of a genuine recovery: deep inward practice first, then spacious, culture-rich integration. The landscape changes as you do.
What makes Samya genuinely distinctive on Lifed is the combination of rigorous daily yoga practice and authentic Kerala cultural immersion. Kalaripayattu, Kathakali, Vedanta philosophy, and an Ayurvedic farm visit are not add-ons they are the curriculum. Achu and Nithin, both born and raised in Kerala with a decade of retreat experience, bring a cultural authenticity that cannot be replicated by non-local facilitators.
The strict maximum of 10 participants ensures every person is known, guided, and seen. At Samya, no one falls through the cracks of a large group retreat. That is rare and worth noting.
